As a team leader in pre-assembly, I ensure everything runs smoothly, from planning to process improvement. What makes my work so special is the combination of technology and contact with colleagues. Together with my team, we build the most beautiful products AND a pleasant working environment.

What is important in your role?

"In my role, it's important to ensure that the planning runs smoothly, the right materials are available, and processes are efficient and swift. Additionally, human contact is crucial; listening to people on the shop floor and working together to see what they need to work comfortably."

What do you enjoy about your job?

"Variety! No day is the same, and that can be hectic but above all challenging. It's great to be able to turn good ideas from the shop floor into reality. I help improve processes and ensure that people feel safe and valued. Additionally, collaborating with colleagues is very pleasant. It genuinely feels like a family business: people help each other and are involved, not only in the workplace but also outside of it. You truly work together as a team towards a common goal. I think that's wonderful and it also gives me a lot of satisfaction."

What is the highlight of your career?

"The confidence I was given when switching to this role I find truly special. When I started at VDL ETG as a recruiter, I never thought I would work in production myself. Now I am glad I was given that opportunity and took the step. High-tech manufacturing is truly something special. You work with innovative techniques and products that you didn’t even know existed at first. That makes the work extremely interesting and educational."

What advice would you give to someone planning to apply to VDL ETG?

"Be curious and ask questions! Everyone is willing to help if you show that you want to learn. You don't necessarily need a technical background; if you have an affinity with technology, present yourself vulnerably, and are open to new knowledge, you'll get there. And perhaps most importantly: stay true to yourself. Authenticity is valued here."
